 offen auf aeg

this set of photos definitely belongs to 2016 and so here it is.

i know it sounds weird but the best part of each day is driving my car. the streets belong to me, i can see the sun rising and setting in my rearview mirror and there's this tiny sense of freedom. and for most there's music. i found a decent radio channel i can listen to without switching around every five seconds. these songs are being played quite often and by now they are quite stuck in my head and this is why my final days of 2016 sound like yukno, jagwar ma & harlea.

 gretas schwester // monkind

you simply have to love gretas schwester - i certainly do. the mind and heart behind the bright and beautifully painted illustrations of this young berlin label is sarah neuendorf. her watercolour world is inhabited by whales and lions, flowers and deserts. i like its vibrant colours, its lightness and playfullness. you can sense her love and thoughts in every little detail.

gretas schwester is to be found at crellestrasse in berlin schöneberg - sharing a shop with monkind, whose owner valeria not only was so nice to let me take photos of their beautiful place but also designs organic children's wear printed with the sweetest patterns.

 my sister's cat

...being boss of the staircase (and blocking everybody's way).

berlin, september 2016.

 berlin, finally

pictures from the past. oh god, i'm so not up to date... just right now it's freezing cold outside. in the morning the world is dusted with diamond powder but in the evening it is like a giant black hole and my room becomes a warm cosy cave full of tea with almond milk, christmas cookies, blankets, magazines & films, warm light and warm thoughts.

 hello hamburg

not only did i fly to copenhagen by the end of september, i also spent some time in berlin and one day in hamburg. of course i paid human empire a visit, made some more ridiculous photos at that photo booth in feldstrasse, had a fantastic fish sandwich at bruecke 10, got lost in st. pauli, took a walk through planten un blomen and liked lokaldesign's idea of gathering the work of hamburg's designers in one spot.

 copenhagen design II

beautiful interiors of the danish designmuseum. a must see if you are in copenhagen. make sure to check out their café and museum shop as well.

 copenhagen design I

some glimpses of copenhagen's theatre.

...the days are getting darker and darker and i'm craving for some intellectual light. i'd really love to go and see some plays anytime soon. it's been years since i last saw a theatre from the inside (it was a pollesch play at berlin volksbuehne - maybe that's the reason why...). but it's such a shame because i had been a regular visitor since 9th grade and theatre even was a subject of my studies at university. think, i'm going to check out the schedule of nuremberg's playhouse after i'v finished writing this.

and now some music by a man who's touched my imperfect body with his mind (yes, you're guessing right).

 arty art

they've got a good sense of humour, those danes.

pictures taken at louisiana museum of modern art. highly recommended. also recommended: bringing some breakfast and climbing down that small path in front of the museum until you reach the beach of humlebaek. then: sit down, eat in silence and enjoy the view.

 danish greens

while showing you photos of copenhagen's botanical garden i myself am dreaming of south tyrol, oddly enough. i catch myself thinking more and more about those glorious late summer days i spent there one year ago. memories of beautiful merano, vineyards and apple orchards, stunning dolomites, green meadows and crystal clear blue air appear out of nowhere. south tyrol, i hear your call.
